Wellbeing, Grounded in Community

Momentum Art & Wellness was founded on a simple belief: that everyone deserves to feel safe, connected, and energised. We are a Canterbury-based organisation dedicated to making evidence-informed wellbeing practices accessible to all.

Our Mission: Sustainable Wellbeing for All

Our mission is to empower individuals and organisations with practical, sustainable tools for mental and physical health. We move beyond temporary fixes to focus on building long-term resilience, fostering genuine connection, and creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels they belong.

We believe that wellbeing is not a luxury—it's a fundamental human need. Through our evidence-informed approach, we make wellbeing education and practices accessible to working adults, parents, seniors, and organisations across Canterbury.

Our Approach: Evidence-Informed and Inclusive

Our approach is grounded in science and guided by heart. We draw on principles from psychology and restorative practices to create sessions that are both effective and welcoming. We believe that wellbeing is for every body, and we are committed to providing options and creating an environment where all participants feel seen, respected, and supported.

Inspired by Te Whare Tapa Whā

We are inspired by Te Whare Tapa Whā, the holistic model of wellbeing developed by Tā Mason Durie. This framework recognises that true wellbeing requires balance across four interconnected dimensions:

Taha Tinana (Physical)

Physical health and bodily wellbeing

Taha Hinengaro (Mental & Emotional)

Mental and emotional health

Taha Whānau (Family & Social)

Family and social connections

Taha Wairua (Spiritual)

Spiritual health and sense of purpose

This holistic perspective guides how we design our programmes and ensures we address wellbeing in its fullest sense.

Safe Belonging First

We create welcoming spaces where everyone feels they belong, making inclusion explicit rather than assumed.

Evidence-Informed Practice

Our programmes are grounded in current research on mental and physical health, delivered in plain language.

Community Centred

We build genuine connections and foster a sense of community in all our sessions and programmes.

Proudly Serving the Canterbury Region

While we are based in Christchurch, our delivery is Canterbury-wide. We travel to workplaces, schools, and community centres across the region, from Ashburton to Kaikōura. If you have a space, we can bring a Momentum Art & Wellness workshop to you.
